Luke Maxim is a Toronto based jazz vocalist, songwriter and musician. Although his music is deeply rooted in his passion for jazz, musically, Luke defies the boundaries of the jazz genre. Luke’s lyrical compositions and musical arrangements aim to modernize old jazz standards by introducing the sensual flavours of R&B and new age rock. Inspired both by the great crooners of jazz and his sheer passion for creating music, Luke entered the music industry in 2008. Luke was born and raised in Vaughan, Ontario. He is a graduate of the prestigious Humber College Jazz program where he had the opportunity to study and perform with some of the most talented musicians. It was as a student that Luke discovered his unique ability to put a fresh twist on musical classics.Well known throughout the city, Luke has performed at some of the hottest jazz clubs in Toronto including The Rex, Lula Lounge, Reservoir Lounge, and, he was also featured in the Four Season’s Centre’s noon concert series. With his mellifluous and melodic sound, Luke has captivated audiences around the country and has shared the stage with Grammy and Juno nominated performers including The Gipsy Kings and Jully Black.
In 2014, Luke was featured in concerts held at the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre, Flato Markham Theatre, Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, and The Mod Club. In 2014 Luke also completed his debut album titled “Stay”. “Stay” encapsulates Luke’s ability to successfully rejuvenate musical sounds. The unique dynamic of the album is compounded by the lyrical intimacy of Luke’s original music. The album is musically sensual, demonstrating the beauty of the piano featuring renowned pianist, Adrean Farrugia, and is lyrically personal and intimate.
